Kathleen Andrews, First Lady of Transit

Kathleen Andrews, First Lady of Transit is a portrait informed by extensive research on Kathleen Andrews, our city’s first female bus driver, and the City of Edmonton circa 1978. The resulting composition gives us a glimpse of a streetscape of that era and celebrates Andrews as a trailblazer and role model. Andrews’ drive and determination to succeed in what was a non-traditional career for women at the time offers inspiration to all Edmontonians to push past barriers to achieve their goals.
