And I’m Home: A Holiday Radio Play
by Stephen Allred, Michael Clark, and Melanie Reid
And I’m Home: A Holiday Radio Play is a musical journey through vignettes that capture the humour, warmth, and emotion of the holiday season. From adapting to new family traditions and navigating parent-child dynamics, to honouring loved ones and overcoming holiday travel woes, each segment highlights relatable experiences. The play concludes with a heartfelt ensemble song celebrating the enduring spirit and magic of Christmas.
Directed by Stephen Allred, and read by Marissa Dingle, Todd Hauck, Marie Hill, Bella King, Elizabeth Marsh, Aran Wilson-McAnally, and Cooper Rajotte. Music by Michael Clark (piano) and Nicholas Yee (cello).
Stephen Allred is a multiple Sterling Award nominated writer, director, producer, and an occasional dentist. He’s known for co-writing multiple original musicals which have previously been featured at the Edmonton Fringe, including horror comedy hits Cult Cycle, Imaginary Friend, Conjoined, and Krampus, the latter three of which he also directed. He is a passionate performer. This holiday season you can also catch more of his work in the extended version of Krampus: A New Musical as a part of Workshop West’s 46th season at the Gateway Theatre, from 11 – 22 December.
Michael Clark is a versatile music director, conductor, composer and pianist. Raised in rural Alberta, he has developed a passion for musical theatre and storytelling. He currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Edmonton Pops Orchestra and Music Director of the Edmonton Philharmonic Orchestra. Michael has led the music for over three dozen theatre productions and numerous concerts, with collaborations at The Lincoln Centre and Goodspeed Musicals. His music has been performed across Canada, and includes works for orchestra, wind ensemble and the theatre.
Melenie Reid is a local performer, playwright and Christmas enthusiast. Her most recent performance credits include Joyce and Will Byers in Dark Stage Production’s Stranger Sings and Betty Haynes in Nuova Vocal Arts White Christmas. And I’m Home aims to capture all the chaos and calm that the holidays bring — everything Melenie loves about this time of year. She would like to thank Stephen and Michael and every performer, for making this experience nothing short of wonderful.
