River City Big Band presents New Wine in Old Bottles — an evening of big band jazz!

River City Big Band’s final concert of the season brings the old and the new together in an outstanding concert of big band music. We have asked six established and emerging composers to compose new works inspired by six classic big band charts for this season’s commissioning concert. Join us on April 27 for the première of works by Chris Andrew, Tom van Seters, Paul Suchan, Joe Dutton, June, and the band’s own JF Picard, as well as the classic charts that inspired them by Thad Jones, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Tommy Dorsey. The band will also première the first two movements of Allan Gilliland’s newest suite, The Belgariad. It will be a celebration of the old and the new, and a great reason to buy a glass of wine.
