On the Brink

‘On the Brink’ is a continuation of a body of work that the artist (Gerri Harden/​Krista Acheson) began in 2016. This series is intended as an ongoing visual expression of the symptoms associated with Bipolar I disorder.

Collins’ Studio Gallery will be hosting an excerpt of new works based on recent experiences, mainly focusing on symptoms that exist on the brink of ​“normal,” i.e., stress-induced hypnagogic hallucinations, generalized anxiety, and, perhaps less normal, attempts to self-manage symptoms of impending psychosis. Overall, the work aims to creatively depict side effects associated with performative normalcy.
