2024 Invent & Adapt program funding recipients

Through the Invent & Adapt grant program, the Edmonton Arts Council invests in arts organizations as they navigate complex operational challenges, build capacity, and adapt to changing environments. The 2024 Invent & Adapt program marks a continued commitment by the EAC to foster innovation, resilience, and long-term sustainability within Edmonton’s arts ecosystem.
In 2024, 14 applications were recommended for funding, for a total investment of $382,877.
Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts will expand their resources to support newcomer and emerging artists to foster a more inclusive arts community, creative growth, community engagement, and professional development.
Ballet Edmonton will transition leadership roles and add new positions to support the organization’s growth.
Braille Tone Music Society will contract a local agency to develop a comprehensive policy manual for the organization, as well as a consultant to conduct vital funding research.
Chronos Music Society will invest in system building, process documentation, information management and internal communication. Funding will support dedicated staff time, the engagement of an external consultant, and investment in new tools and training.
Common Ground Arts Society will improve its stability and succession capacity by transitioning two core contractors to Common Ground’s first permanent employees, with consultation for payroll administration and health benefits.
Concrete Theatre Society will work with an archivist and advisor to chronicle the theatre’s 35-year history. They will develop and enact a process to capture their history through documents, archives, materials and storytelling.
Edmonton New Shadow Theatre is implementing a four-stage succession plan to secure the future of its leadership, including mentorship and revitalization of the Artistic Director role.
Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation will reimagine its membership intake process to ensure they are best meeting the needs of current and potential members.
Latitude 53 Society of Artists seeks to develop a comprehensive conflict resolution framework to address community, staff, and board dynamics challenges.
Mile Zero Dance will hire a permanent Operations Manager to manage their new venue and administration.
Punctuate! Theatre will retain, in a consultancy capacity, the services of two Indigenous Elders and a Knowledge Keeper.
Quarters Arts Society will strengthen their organizational capacity by enhancing programming, audience and fund development, and skill sharing through facilitated workshops and professional communications support, benefiting the communities they serve.
Workshop West Playwrights’ Theatre is launching a pilot program to make all performances and subscriptions pay what you will in 2024/2025, removing financial barriers to attendance while building and diversifying audiences.
YouthWrite will undergo board and staff training, and interactive panel discussions to integrate an anti-racism/anti-discrimination focus to their programming.
