Calls to Artists

Workshop West Playwrights Theatre invites playwrights currently residing in Alberta to submit plays in process for one-on-one dramaturgical support and/or production consideration. Click here to submit. 

The City of Victoria has issued a Call to Artists for mural artists. They are looking to add new names to the roster of pre-qualified, artists who are available for mural opportunities from April 2023 through October 2025. Apply by December 5.  

Are you an artist or group (Music, Dance, Film, Theatre or Street Performer) looking to perform at the Deep Freeze Byzantine Winter Festival? They are calling all performers, especially for their Indigenous, Ukrainian, and French Canadian programming. *EXTENDED: Apply by December 10. 

SNAP invites applications to submit proposals for the SNAP SuperTrain Residency, a new project in collaboration with the Edmonton Arts Council and Pattison Outdoor Advertising. Three artists will be selected to create three transitory public art murals wrapping the interior and exterior of three LRT SuperTrains. Submit by December 15.

The International Festival of Winter Cinema is now accepting regular submissions their our 2023 festival. IFWC recognizes and celebrates local and international cinema with winter, alpine and polar themes of any style or genre. IFWC will be running from February 10-19, 2023, in conjunction with Silver Skate. Submit by December 25.

The Art Gallery of St. Albert is looking for artists to feature in the 2024 calendar year. The Gallery welcomes artists, artist groups, and curators of all artistic and cultural backgrounds working in all styles and mediums to propose an exhibition by sending in a submission by February 28, 2023.  Alberta Society of Artists invites Alberta artists to submit to Interiors, a travelling exhibition featuring two-dimensional art. Submit by April 3, 2023.

APIRG is accepting applications for Event/Project/Research Funding. Grants are available up to a maximum of $2000. Some examples of past grant recipients include speaker or workshop series, publishable academic or journalistic research, and community events. Click here for more information. 

Applications are being accepted for the Live Music Workers Fund through Unison. The temporary fund to supports independent and self-employed live music workers with a one-time payment of $2500. Click here to apply.

The AFC is now accepting applications for the Reactivation Program. This program provides direct financial assistance for independent, self-employed, and gig workers in the live performance sector, serving theatre, comedy, and circus performers, as well as technicians, production, and other live performance professionals who need financial support to maintain or regain work in the sector. Canadian Dance Assembly has received funding from the Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund to bring direct assistance to independent and self-employed dancers. A total of $2500 each is available to 1500 applicants. Click here for more information.

Submissions are now open for the 2023 Alberta Literary Awards. Writers from across Alberta and their publishers are invited to check out and submit to this year's award categories. Submit to the Alberta Literary Awards by December 31.

Submissions are open for the Edmonton Arts Prizes. The Prizes celebrate artists from a range of art forms and practices, recognizing their work, and investing in their continued experimentation and creation. Submit to the Robert Kroetsch - City of Edmonton Book Prize by December 31, and submit to the City of Edmonton Music Prize, City of Edmonton Film Prize and the Eldon + Anne Foote Edmonton Visual Arts Prize by January 20, 2023.
